80's and 90's bands.... where are they now?

Listening to music in the 80's and 90's, there are lots of favourite bands that had hits that we haven't heard from in years... Did they breakup?  Did they stop playing?  It turns out that there are many that have continued playing, releasing albums and touring.  Why don't we listen to them anymore?
